- Water lilies have taken over backwaters of Kottayam, throwing tourists an bait.
- Malarikkal village, epicentre of the bloom, has launched preparations to organise a tourism festival.
- It will coincide with Onam season and is being organised by Meenachil-Meenanthara-Kodoor river relinking programme in association with Thiruvarppu grama panchayat and Malarikkal tourism society.
- Lily bulbs will come out in full force when third wave of floodwater will wash the networks clean.
